We have been using Citizens Hospital services for quite some time now.
We consulted Dr. Anitha Kunnaiah as our OB-GYN when we were pregnant and have been consulting Dr. Paritosh Anand since our baby's birth. I've also consulted Dr. Sudhakar Reddy (Ortho) briefly when I had a minor accident.
I would say I'm satisfied with the quality of consultation we got.
However, when it comes to treatment and operations, it is a different story altogether...Citizens Specialty Hospital is probably the worst among the costlier hospitals.
There were glitches that I've encountered in time management. We have been called at 6 AM for a D&C procedure, but nobody was even aware of us coming. The idiot at the Emergency Ward Reception responsible for allotting a room was snoring at his desk. After 30 minutes of banging hi head against the computer he could only tell us that all the rooms are occupied. This was Monday and we had informed on Friday itself that we will have the procedure on Monday...that's how their planning is.
After an hour or so, we were allotted a room, it was a twin sharing room and there was an old man who had some breathing disease and was coughing like anything. Moreover, ours was a Gynec procedure, I don;t know how they a gave us a sharing room with a male patient. Moreover, the room was so dirty and smelly, I did not even want to take my kid inside. After shouting on them for 15 minutes, our room was finally changed to some other floor.
Also, they told me before hand that the procedure will cost 30 thousand, and you know how much the bill came around to, 30257...adding all the unnecessary items like more than 30 gloves and what not. The same procedure costs around Rs. 8000 in normal hospitals. This exact number for the bill was what shocked me...for an operation that lasted less than 15 minutes.
There was another incident, during our delivery they put my healthy born baby in NICU, just so they can charge me extra 5k... also they deliberately asked me to wait till 2 PM for discharge on the third day and when I went there after 2 PM, they said yours is insurance covered so we can,t discharge after 2 PM, making me stay an extra day...they do it to everyone with insurance.
Moreover, when we came back to get a form filled for our insurance claim, they made us run around for hours, just to fill up 5 fields in a form. The thing is when you are getting treatment, they will show as if you are the most important person in the world, but if you are not paying them the exorbitant amount that they charge, they will not help you to even fill a simple form. pathetic service.
Many a times we had to wait in spite of taking prior appointments, a few times I have waited as much as 2 hours because the desk staff couldn't fit me in despite an appointment.
To say the least, the operation is best at par with a Government hospital, that too I have seen Govt. Hospitals running operations better than Citizens.
All in all, I'm satisfied with the doctors, but never going there again for a procedure.
